News Flash: You Create and Control Everything In Your Life!

"In remembering who He is, and who I am, I remenber the power within me.  This is not a power to merely fix things. It is the power to transform the world."  -Marianne Williamson

Let's expound a bit on There Is More To Us Than We Realize, Sunday Service...as Reverend Pattie Mercado invited us to fully open our mind, heart, and Soul...allowing Divine Source to express through us.
I open my mind, my heart and my soul to allow the Divine to express through me, doing what is mine to do. And So It Is!

Lack of control is an illusion. If you are the creator, all things are under your control. Some people say that control is an illusion but the opposite is the real Truth.

How can you not be in control when all things are under your control? Realize the aspect of yourself that is Divine, your Higher Self.  It is that Higher Self that  is in control of all things.  Yes… You are the Higher Self. You create all of your Reality. There is no aspect of your Reality which you do not create. Therefore, you control all.

You are not a victim. All Power is within and is absolutely under your control. To say that things happen through another cause other than yourself…your Higher Self… is to say that you are a victim.

Nothing happens outside of you. Everything is happening within you. You are Consciousness… and Consciousness encompasses All That Is. Whenever you feel not being in control, you are experiencing an illusion. You created the illusion of not being in control, of not being Divine…of not being Power from within. You are the director of the script and can control at will.  Yes, whether we go to the fear and doubt place…(and we all do it from time to time)…or our place of the Divine…our place of Power…we are totally in control!

Remember, Intention controls results. Everything is created by your intention. Even when what you desire comes at a time or in a way that seems beyond your control, it is still your intent that brought it into manifesting.
Nothing happens to you outside of you. When you realize this Truth, you know that you are the creator of everything that happens in your Life. The idea that something else makes things happen is not Truth.

When undesirable things happen, you are simply being moved mentally or physically, or Spiritually towards somewhere else that is closer to what you want.   That’s Good News!  It is you moving yourself. Those undesirable things are not created by something external of you to affect you. They are part of your Intent. Your Intent arranges and rearranges the Universe to move you to closer to where you want to be. The rearrangement of the Universe may seem to be something that is happening on its own… but it is you who control it with Intention.  Really!

Think of Intention as your Will…the Freedom to have all that you desire and require!

And the Will has still another important function. It acts as a Protector. The Will repels the influence or vibrations of another mind, and renders its possessor immune to undesirable thought-waves. It creates a protective aura around the individual, which will turn aside the thought-waves or vibrations which may reach you, whether such be sent directly to you… or whether they are the vibrations emanating from minds of others and unconsciously sent forth.  A strong Soul/Spirit retains strong individuality and thinking.

Feeling is living thought. Everything that is worthwhile was produced by this feeling thought. Feeling—Desire— Emotion—Passion—Wanting— Willing—Demanding—these are the things that have Creative Power. So do not deceive yourself with this ''holding the thought," or any such nonsense of which you have heard so much until you get sick at the mention of the words. It is not simply "holding the thought," it is "holding the desire," and backing it up with the Will that does the work. Desire-Will is Intent.

To live as a Powerful Creator,  I invite you to banish the illusion once and for all that you are not in control. Trust and Believe… you will always arrive back at the core Truth… that you are the Creator of your Reality… and that you control all of it.

When you focus on what you can do to Create what you want, you take back the Power…Your Power!  Your Intent brings you the knowledge, the awareness and the energy to create what you want. Everything that happens can be traced back to Intent.

Working from the “inside-out” remains the most effective way to bring balance, fulfillment, and breakthrough achievement to all areas of your Life…not to mention an added wholeness and harmony to the world around us!

Remember if you don’t do anything – if you don’t change the way
your mind works and direct your subconscious mind to create the
life you want – everything stays the same – nothing changes. This
is your life – make the most of it…NOW!

Today will bring you a new awareness, a lesson or a manifestation that you are making progress – IF YOU KNOW IT!  No matter how large or small, please recognize it and be Grateful. Hey…It only takes a moment to pick up the penny… and will AUTOMATICALLY put you in the Flow of Positive Energy and Goodness.

Do you Want to Love Yourself Really?

Whitney Houston sang: "Learning to love yourself is the greatest love of all."
Currently Justin Bieber is on the radio with a very snarky song about loving yourself, as in it is a very self-centered, selfish thing to do. To give you a flavor of the song, one line is,
"My mama don't like you and she likes everyone!"
Well which one is it? Is it selfish to love yourself or is it necessary to love yourself? Is it the greatest love or is it the puniest? Is it self-absorbed and narcissistic? Or is it expansive and enlightened?

Perhaps the confusion comes from what is self-love? The original meaning was one of excessive attention to self, but now most of the dictionaries define self-love as looking after one's well-being. It is seen as positive and desirable.

Many writers believe that self-love is not a feeling but rather actions that one takes to establish self-worth and well-being.

I believe that self-love is closely related to self-esteem and self-respect. I agree that if you don't love yourself, it will be very hard if not impossible to love someone else. When my self-love is solid, I am a good friend. I can take criticism and negativity with greater ease than if I am feeling emotionally fragile.

The aspect of me that gets in the way is my inner critic. You likely have one of your own. The inner critic always makes me feel small and incapable. The most difficulty I have in maintaining my self-love, and staving off the inner critic, is when someone tells me I am not doing a good enough job and I secretly agree with them!

A recent incident catapulted me into rigorous self-inquiry. What am I making this mean? What can I learn about myself and my habits that would help me live  a more self-confident life?

I hear myself saying things I SHOULD have done! With every SHOULD I give away my self-respect. One of my early teachers taught me to change the "should" to COULD. That certainly brings more clarity while maintaining  a shred of dignity. So instead of, "I should have called my Mom." I could change it to  "I could have called my Mom but something else took precedence."

I believe it is valuable to do things you are good at. It is valuable take some quiet time for observation and reflection. Self-love does not mean over-spending, over-eating or over-indulging. Those are all kinds of self-contempt.

Now the truth about it is that you and I are made in the image of Spirit, whole complete and perfect in every way. One of my favorite and most-powerful affirmations is four simple statements of Truth:
"There is only One Life.  That Life is God's Life. That Life is perfect. That Life is my life now."
I think the world would be a much lovelier place in which to live, if we all practiced one act of self-love every day. I stumbled across the following poem which I think is exactly what I am attempting to say. It is by Suzy Kassem, titled "Apply Within."

You once told me
You wanted to find
Yourself in the world -
And I told you to
First apply within,
To discover the world
within you.
You once told me
You wanted to save
The world from all its wars -
And I told you to
First save yourself
From the world,
And all the wars
You put yourself
Through.

There is More Than Just this Body

Amazing Lola; Small in Stature, Big in Heart

Here at our Center the Animal Kinship Ministry offers a Releasing Ceremony for our loved ones. When you make the decision to allow your pet to move onto its next life, you do not have to do it alone.
I had the privilege of being present for Kelly when she made the decision to allow her beautiful Lola, a long haired Chihuahua,  to move onto the next plane of existence. Lola was having heart issues.  She was 14 years old and had lived a full, privileged, loving life. We held her and we celebrated her life. I  spoke about Lola being a teacher because we learn how to nurture by being nurtured. Lola nurtured Kelly and taught her how to be a mom. Lola taught unconditional love and how to stay in the moment.  Lola taught Kelly the process of slowing down and the fact that everything is on its way to someplace else.
Kelly had a vet come to the house to administer the drugs.  You could feel the love in the room.  The whole process  was inspiring.  I  witnessed Kelly’s experience.  She now knows that there is more than just this body, more than just this life.  It was honoring, beautiful and s-o-o-o loving.

Are You Acting From Love, Gratitude, & Thankfulness…or Hanging Out In That Fear & Doubt Place?!

Love is not like something material, for what is given does not lessen the store of what remains. The more we give, the more we have to give. If we love one person more, that does not imply that we love others less. All our love, in fact, is nothing more than trying with the whole of our facilities to realize in human experience the intimacy which lies hidden between all of us.   -Dom Aelred Watkin

As human beings, we operate daily reflecting a wide range of emotions with a multitude of motivations fueling our behaviors. All too often, we react emotionally to what others say or do. If our reactions are preceded by the emotions of fear, anger, or sadness, we forfeit our ability to act with personal power and effectiveness in lieu of a knee-jerk response.

This reaction is all too often sourced in fear and low self-esteem.
We may focus on what's wrong with us and our lives or fear being controlled, hurt, or taken advantage of. We may overlook the many things we have in our lives for which we should rightly be grateful. When we doubt our ability to thrive and access the abundance we see all around us in the world, we react instead from the concern of scarcity and the expectation of failure, hurt, and disappointment. We may see ourselves in competition for the world's resources and the love and attention of others rather than realizing that there is more than enough of all that is good to go around. We forget that we manifest what we expect rather than needing to compete for limited resources.

Whenever we forget that we are magnificent beings and that there is plenty of wealth, happiness, fun, and fulfillment to go around, we might feel the need to protect ourselves from what we perceive to be a dangerous world. We likewise tend to forget that others operate from the same lacking self-confidence, scarcity of gratitude, and deficient self-love that we often do. So, whenever two or more individuals see themselves as not good enough to tap into the world's abundance and get all their needs met from a physical, social, mental, and emotional perspective, conflicts are likely to arise. The result is broken relationships, strained communication, emotional pain, struggle, and suffering. All of these are needless and optional for those who realize their ability to detach from the struggle and master their emotional response.

When we stop to realize that everyone else suffers from the same self-doubt and fear of being dominated and cheated out of getting their fair share of love, fun, money, possessions, and security, we can break the vicious cycle of endless competition and continual striving for domination. We can realize that cooperation and communication is more effective in producing harmony than competition and a focus on self-interest based on fear. We can intentionally choose to trust that others are doing the best they know how to do based upon how they see the world. We can assume that they act from good intentions, even when we fear the opposite.
We can hold them as worthy, competent, loving, good natured and capable of creating win-win relationships rather than fearing them as hateful, ill meaning, incompetent, unworthy, selfish opponents.

When we decide to champion others by looking for the best in them and interact with them out of an attitude of gratitude for their gifts, strengths, and positive qualities, in such as manner that they are clear that we hold them as intrinsically good and worthy of our love and respect, we provide for them a new and exciting opportunity for them to show up for us in this manner. Our decision to hold others as great (because they really are when we strip away their anger, fears, and insecurities) allows them the freedom to rise to our expectations. By operating from love and gratitude for the wisdom and empathy we develop as a result of our interactions with others, we see their mistakes as temporary indiscretions producing valuable lessons from which to learn and grow rather than reflections of a fundamentally defective being.

Especially, within this year, I have chosen...sometimes consciously, and sometimes not so consciously...to detach from reaction mode, regardless of situation, circumstance or event.  You know...from those non-serving elements and beliefs of lack, of being not enough, and the like...for that is not the Truth of me, nor the Truth of you.  That remains in no way, shape or form the Truth of our Magnificence...our GODling Self...and not merely our earthing self.

The key to bringing out the best in others is non-attachment. When we realize that we have total control over our response to any situation, and we give up our right to be invalidated by others or control them, we will possess a newfound freedom that allows us to exit the drama of conflict in favor of understanding, compassion, and love. Decide now to be grateful for the challenges you will encounter in your life and business. See the problems that arise as opportunities for your personal development. Look for these challenges as you go about your day, be grateful when you encounter them, and seek out the gifts awaiting your discovery.

Try this…Exercise for Expanding Gratitude and Shifting Your Reactive Nature to One That Is RESPONSIVE!

1. List all the things you have decided to be grateful for in your life and business.
2. In your daily journal, record each time you fail to express gratitude for a challenging situation.
3. Catch yourself reacting emotionally to what someone says or does and shift your perception in that moment to appreciate the learning experience at hand.
4. In your daily life and business, who are you not holding as magnificent?
5. How can you champion their excellence and express gratitude for the opportunity to grow in love and wisdom that they are gifting you instead of reacting with anger, sadness, or fear?
6. Who are you seeking to control or avoid being controlled by?

Ask yourSELF:  Will you take on the practice of non-attachment in your relationship with them by creating space for them to be who they are?   I invite you to do this for 30 days and write down how your interactions with them evolve.

And…Remember…Have a tremendously Magnificent and Successful day…Everyday!

What Is Mine To Do? Sunday Service

Spiritual Conspiracy

"I affirm that every action I take, every situation I experience, every word I speak and every thought I have is a reflection of my faith that the Universe is conspiring for my good!" Rev. Brian Akers

What a magnificent affirmation! This is the affirmation for Sunday, May 22, 2016. I love it. It calls me to action. It calls me to ensure that my life reflects it in everything, that the words and the music go together, are in alignment with each other. It is an affirmation of truth.

Sometimes it is difficult to see that conspiracy. Today was one of those days. I decided to TAKE my application for naturalization up to Santa Ana rather than put it in the mail. Even though my first idea was to simply go to the post office here. That would have been the fastest and most direct route. But instead, I drove up to Santa Ana with my GPS constantly telling me to take the next exit. (I had instructed the GPS at an earlier time to give me a route without any freeways.) It was simply obeying the latest command it had from me.

That program is just like our subconscious mind that only knows how to obey the command. It doesn't evaluate it. It doesn't and can't change it. Our conscious mind is the only power that can decide. When we decide we can see that the Universe is conspiring for us.

The other aspect which is also part of the  demonstration was when I got to the Civic Center Plaza, driving right by the Federal Building, I did not notice the number on the building. Of course, it was the building I was looking for. However, not seeing the number prompted me to take  a stroll around the Civic Center and beyond. I walked for about 20 minutes, the length of time of my intended morning walk. Although I had dress shoes on and not walking shoes, the Universe was conspiring to help me achieve my daily goal.

The point is that no matter what we are experiencing, our experiences are always a reflection of our consciousness, not our wishes or hopes. Knowing that the Infinite Presence of Life lies within you, what can you choose today to think, to speak and to know?

One of the many vocalists whom we lost too early was John Denver. One of my favorite Denver songs is "It's About Time." In 2012 a Christian church together a video for Earth Day in 2012 featuring his song and some very moving images. I am sad to say I can't share it with you but you can see it by searching "Earth Day Video-John Denver-It's About Time."

When we are in harmony with Divine Mind, we begin to create beauty, joy and prosperity for all beings.
"It's about time, and it's about changes and it's about time."

News Flash: You Know This!!!

“The measure of intelligence is the ability to change.” ― Albert Einstein

Flexibility is not a matter of turning spineless or so bendable you act like Gumby. Yes…I LOVE Gumby!...and his pony pal Pokey, too!…HOWEVER, as much as I truly love Gumby...Mastering flexibility means that you can balance the need for consistency with the need for change. Consistency can be the key in situations where a depth of understanding or discipline lead to growth. When the status quo is giving you success and joy, consistency is called for; when losses are occurring or you are missing opportunities, flexibility is in order. Hey, even Tony Robbins says, “Stay committed to your decisions, but stay flexible in your approach.”
One of the biggest fears you can encounter in life is fear of the unknown. It is tremendously hard to take a step off into areas that are new from a place that is familiar. It’s unknown territory; unfamiliar and possibly dangerous. This is where the skill of flexibility helps you the most. The benefit that flexibility brings to your life is that it gives you a wider territory of the familiar. In essence, flexibility increases your comfort zone. When you are flexible, there is a larger area in life that you have navigated before – that feels comfortable or at least familiar. Flexibility allows you to leave behind the usual, the narrow and ordinary; it allows you to continually do something a tiny bit differently. Over time, you forge a new, wider path that is less unknown and less fearful.
Brain science has taught us in the past decade is that this is actually how change occurs in our thinking patterns, habits and behavior. You must develop new neural pathways in your brain in order to change, grow or progress in your life. Change requires you to go into new territory, at least in terms of where in your brain things are processed. If all you do is try NOT to do the old habit or behavior – say you are trying to stop settling – you will never succeed. Every time you focus on not doing it, you strengthen the “doing it” pathway. The same old neural pathway in the brain that keeps you doing that behavior gets stronger if you try to resist doing that behavior. However, if you find yourself some new, less offensive words and develop the habit of using them, you will lay down new neural pathways in your brain and actually change. The power to change lies not in changing the old, but in developing something entirely new. This is flexib- ility in action.
The way to utilize this part of fierceness is to actually practice flexibility. No, not physical stretches, though your body might be grateful for that as well, but mental and behavioral stretches. Here are some examples: drive to work on a new route, cook a dish you have never eaten before, speak to strangers in the grocery store, eat with your fork in the other hand or use chopsticks…yes, I just ate a typically American dinner with chopsticks, or just do something out of the routine and the ordinary. This allows you to intentionally and consciously activate your flexibility... and, just like a muscle of your body, your ability to be flexible will grow. It is not that you are training your mind to use chopsticks or learn a new food preparation, you are giving your brain the ability to adapt to a variety of new situations to be prepared for whatever life may bring along. As Edward de Bono, authority on creative thinking, said,
“If you cannot accurately predict the future then you must flexibly be prepared to deal with various possible futures.”  Trust and believe... I have experienced and expressed this as Truth!
The final point in a discussion of flexibility is that we are not talking about taking foolish risks. Flexibility means staying within the limits of which you are capable, just pushing the limit slightly to beyond what is comfortable...For...LIFE begins when we get out of our proverbial "Comfort Zone".   It is not a leap into a great unknown, but a slide into the area beyond the illumination of the street lamp. It is a calculated risk. It is required for growth and also for success.  Of this...I remain Certain!
GOD has given me the ability to Truly Know that the Seeds of BEING Transcend That Which I AM Seeing...and whether I believe it or not...
The seeds of my happiness "today" were planted "a year and a half ago"...and
The seeds of my happiness a year and a half from Now... are BEING planted...today... Now!
Hey…whatever YOU do, It’s all perfect just the way it is…the way YOU are…NOW!

How to Recognize the Whisper of Spiritual Guidance

This month were talking about Spiritual Guidance and Personal Responsibility. Spiritual guidance comes from within and is sometimes call intuition, a hunch or a gut feeling.   We all have a spiritual inner voice, but do we all listen?

"Follow your instincts. That's where true   wisdom manifests itself." ~ Oprah Winfrey.

How do you know when your intuition is speaking to you and thru you? With a committee of voices rattling around in our brains offering input on just about everything, how do we know when the Divine is speaking?

My Lesson In Listening

About a year ago I left my $600 Kindle, a gift from my parents, in an airplane's seat-back pocket, never to see it again. Before I walked off the plane, Spirit tried three times to save me from heartbreak and loss.

First, when I put my Kindle in the seat-back pocket, my intuition whispered,

"Leave it in your bag."

I responded in my head, "But what if I want to read during the flight. I don't want to have to disturb anyone to get it out." I put my Kindle in the seat-back pocket.

Next, I was trying to decide where to put my boarding pass. Spirit softly suggested,

"Put it in your Kindle."

I responded, "No, I don't want to lose my boarding pass. It might slip out." I put my boarding pass into my purse.

Lastly, Spirit coaxed,

"Hold your Kindle in your lap."

I was so involved in a conversation with my neighbor that I thought, "No. That would be rude."

Two hours later after leaving the plane at my layover destination, I realized my Kindle was not with me and it was still on the first plane. When I returned to the gate to claim it, the Kindle was lost in the Atlanta Delta Lost and Found system, never to be seen again. "Did you have your name in it?" the gate attendant asked. No...too bad I didn't put my boarding pass in it!

As I reflected on what had happened I realized all the ways my intuition tried to save me from loss and hopeless frustration; from not even taking the Kindle out of my bag to putting the boarding pass into the case so it was easy to identify.

When I was retelling the story to a friend and wondering aloud how to train myself to stop and listen to my intuition in the moment rather than recognizing it's wisdom after the fact, she asked me,"What did your intuition sound like?"

The Voice of Wisdom Rather Than Fear

In an instant of reflection I realized, it never argued with me. It never tried to change my mind or plead with me to make a different choice. My intuition offered me a new idea, but it never justified it's suggestion. My seemingly all-knowing ego overruled my intuition with strong ideas backed up by fear-based consequences. I took that as a clue!

What are other ways to know when Spirit is leading the way?

Three Times a Charm

Kathy Story knows when she gets the Divine nudge 3 times for the same thing, that's a clue to pay attention and take action.

"I know. I listen to things that happen to me 3 times, otherwise I get the divine two-by-four," she said recently when explaining how Spirit gave her the Divine elbow to buy a stuffed parrot from Home Depot. She loves parrots and two days after her purchase, a family of live parrots took up residence in a tree next to her home. Now she wakes up every day and looks out at her spirit animal, the parrot, and gives thanks for that great gift.

Know Thy Self

Take time to listen and know yourself. That's huge! Last Sunday, Dr. Heather suggested meditation, prayer and visioning as three great tools to access the inner wisdom. So often, we move along reacting rather than listening. My yoga teacher reminds me that the power of a yoga practice not only comes from the physical movement, but also from monitoring the reactions of the mind. When we attempt a new posture or reach a physical limitation, that's a tremendous opportunity to observe how the mind reacts to challenge and stress. From that place we get to practice calming the reaction and creating a new thought. To go from "oh know this is too hard" to "I'm doing it. I am strong and capable." By knowing how we react in tough moments, we can distinguish the voice of panick and fear from clear wisdom and guidance.

The wisdom of spiritual guidance can lead the way to enlightenment and greater fulfillment. This month I invite you to reflect on ways you can be a better listener to that still, small voice of spiritual guidance.

How do you recognize your spiritual guidance? Share your stories in the comments. We learn from each other.

News Flash...Where There Is No Change There Is No LIFE!

"All manifestation of Life is from an invisible to a visible plane, through a silent, effortless process of Spiritual realization."  -Ernest Holmes
We talk a lot about change. But…really… where does the power to change come from?  I can tell you where it does not come from. The Power to change does not come from your mind.  Yes…you heard me! Your mind only knows what it has been conditioned to believe. In order to make permanent and lasting change you must know the source of your True Power.
You must KNOW… not just believe… that you are Source Energy in a physical body, and that the Source Energy part of you remains in the non-physical or vibrational realm…Spirit; while the physical part of you is functioning in the physical dimension.  But you cannot separate yourself EVER from the Source Energy that is you…you Truly are One with Spirit!  You Truly are One with God!
IT…Spirit… is always pulsing strong within you. The Source Energy that is pulsing strong within you KNOWS your True Value and your True Power.  Yes…your Authentic Power from within…the Guru within each one of us! But when you forget WHO YOU ARE, it causes a problem in your vibration…within your core strength. The Source Energy…Spirit within you Loves you and others around you and when you don’t, (yes…it happens) you cause discord in your vibrational energy.
The way it works is, you came forth in this physical body and in the moment you came forth you gained the perspective of your physical environment, but you also always have this larger perspective of Source Energy…Spirit-your True and Highest Self… pulsing through you. And in the moment you were born those two perspectives began to give you vibrational feedback – the relationship between the Source Energy…Spirit… and the physical side of you. Yes…IT began giving you feedback just like every guidance system in the world does.
So, KNOW Now you have these two points of vibrations. The unlimited Source Energy…Spirit that you are, and who you think you are – your personality, your ego, perhaps (and likely), something much less than you Truly KNOW you are. And in the moment when you feel negative emotion it means that the Source Energy…Spirit that you are has a very different point of view of whatever your object of attention is within you.
This is your indication you are out of alignment…and not realizing your Highest and Best Self, your Authentic Power from within... and the Abundant, Joyful, Loving Life that you Desire.
KNOW NOW that you are One with Source Energy…One with Spirit...One with God.  That is your Highest and Best Self…your Authentic Power from within.  And Just as Source Energy…Spirit is all there is…Abundance (financial and otherwise), Love, Joy, Peace, Healing & Wholeness…all of the Life that we Desire…we are all of that, for we are One with Source Energy…Spirit.  KNOW that!  That is the Truth of you…that is the Truth of me…regardless of situation, circumstance, event…regardless of even what the economy is doing these days!

"There is a mighty Power within you. There is that Spirit of Life, Light, and Love. The more you feast on these ideas and fast from old corrosive ones, the closer you experience the Life you desire."  -Frank Richelieu, The Art of Being Yourself
