What Are The Centers For Spiritual Living All About from @DrJWaterhouse

 Q) What are the Centers of Spiritual Living all about?

 A) We are a spiritual community that recognizes and celebrates the Infinite Presence of God. We don't seek to know a God outside of ourselves; instead we know God within us. We believe that the highest God and the innermost God is one God.

Please enjoy the rest of Sundays elevator talk about who we are and what we do at the Centers for Spiritual Living by by @DrJWaterhouse

The Identity Prayer by Dr. John Waterhouse

The Identity Prayer by Dr. John Waterhouse
The Identity Prayer
When I had the opportunity to speak at Center for Spiritual Living Capistrano Valley several weeks ago, I invited everyone to recite a short prayer with me, which I call The Identity Prayer.  Our community in Asheville, North Carolina recites this simple prayer every Sunday morning during our Celebration of Life.  To me it perfectly expresses our Divine Nature from a Science of Mind perspective.

I know there are some who think that reciting a prayer has little more than ritualistic value, but this has not been my experience. By reciting this prayer every Sunday, members of our community are being deeply affected.  Many no longer read the words, but instead close their eyes and go to that place at the center of their being, not only to speak words, but to embrace their deepest meaning as absolute Truth. There is always a sense of peace and sacredness as they are simultaneously spoken and heard by everyone.

We hold this prayer as our standard for how we seek to be in the world. See what you think…

“I know that within myself there is that Life which is Perfect, Complete, Divine. It was never born and cannot die for it lives and is God. Within myself is the Wholeness, Peace, Poise and Power of Life. This Life is Health, It is Abundance, It is Love. There is One Life and it is the Life of God and This is my Life now!”                                             And So It Is!

I believe that anyone who allows these ideas to flow from their lips and into their heart is blessed with a greater sense of spiritual self-awareness.  I’m going to invite everyone who joins me at Center for Spiritual Living Capistrano Valley on Sunday, May 19th to say this prayer with me again.

If you start saying this prayer daily between now and then, we could proclaim this Truth together from the depths of our hearts on that Sunday morning.  Now that would be a divine expression of great proportion!

28 Day Prosperity Prayer

Dr. John Waterhouse
Dr. John Waterhouse
This past weekend, Centers for Spiritual Living President, John Waterhouse shared a wonderful talk at our Sunday service.

He shared a beautiful abundance prayer that we wrote about in Science of Mind Magazine in September 2012.

He challenges us to say the prayer, multiple times a day, for 28 days.  He had a story about a couple who did this after reading the original article in SOM magazine, and on the 28th day, won the California lottery.

So, here's the magical prayer:
"I, (your name), know that God is the Source of all supply and that money is God in action.  I know that my Good is here now.  I am so rich and so full that I have an abundance of money to spare and share today and always.  I know that true prosperity includes perfect health, perfect wealth, and perfect happiness.  These words, which I speak in faith, now activates universal law, and I accept the results.  I bless all that I have now, and I bless the increase.  And I know that I now prosper in every way.  I give thanks for this Good, and so it is!"

Be sure to share with us your manifestations!

Extremely Happy People Are

Dr. John Waterhouse graced the stage at Center for Spiritual Living Capistrano Valley this past Sunday. I was excited to hear him speak as he is the author of one of my favorite Science of Mind books, "5 Steps to Freedom an Introduction to Spiritual Mind Treatment". Needless to say he did not disappoint.

He shared the 9 commonalities all extremely happy people have. Of course his version was interspersed with stories and antedotes but I want to share his 9 points.
  • Extremely happy people are passionate about life.
  • Extremely happy people are not defined by facts. They live in principle.
  • Extremely happy people don't react to circumstances. They respond to life.
  • Extremely happy people always consider their options
  • Extremely happy people are accountable for their lives.
  • Extremely happy people focus on what's important.
  • Extremely happy people stay in gratitude.
  • Extremely happy people are exceedingly generous.
  • Extremely happy people find God in Everything.
Don't Worry Be Happy!
Don't Worry, Be Happy!
And So It Is!

Science of Mind Book Review 5 Steps to Freedom

5 Steps to Freedom
an introduction to spiritual mind treatment

My book review for Science of Mind class 104.
I would highly recommend the book "5 Steps to Freedom an Introduction to Spiritual Mind Treatment" to anyone who wants to learn more about the practice of spiritual mind treatments. Dr. John Waterhouse, author and co-minister for the Center for Creative Living in Asheville, North Carolina, creates a straightforward plain spoken explanation of all the steps.

So many of my questions were addressed before I even had time to articulate them. Waterhouse guides you through the process and anticipates questions while deepening your understanding of the major tenets of this philosophy.

An excellent accompaniment to class. Here are some of the special gems I found in this book.

Redefining Prayer
We are really praying all the time. Page 3, “Every time we are angry, we are praying. Every time someone tells a joke, or laughs, or lies, or cries, what is happening is prayer. Our judgments are prayers. Our fears and phobias are prayers. Spirit is present in the midst of it all … Everything we think, say and do is a prayer, and every bit of it is having a direct and significant effect on our lives.“

No Permission Needed.
It’s not about asking permission. It's about knowing it's already here. Seeing the spiritual perfection, knowing it and being grateful for that. Page 49 “Asking implies that there is a power separate from us that we must appeal to before we can receive a desired outcome. Knowing implies that the power of Spirit is within and all around us, available for our use right now.”

Choose Specific and Strong Language in the Now
It may be true of any science. Scientific language needs to be precise. Words like “try” “want” separate you from the desired outcome. This language creates a state of want and not a state of “have.” Page 51 “When we say, “I now have …” or “I now know …” we locate ourselves in time and space in such a way as to focus on and intensify our creative power. The now moment is the only place where anything happens.”

I’m going to read it one more time just to be satisfied I’ve gathered all the good little morsels this book has to offer. I also want to thank Diane Hennessey for the book. I'm going to lend it to you, I'm just not quite ready to let it out of my clutches just yet. It was the perfect accompaniment to Class 104.
