The Value of Classes
I love teaching the Science of Mind!
I love it because I am privileged to witness people waking up to their spiritual magnificence!
I love it because I have an opportunity to examine my own consciousness to see if I am right-thinking!
I love it because it because I get to know the students and they get to know me and each other.
Have you ever wondered why people take the same class a number of times? If you have taken a class more than once, you will know why. We are not the same people we were when we first started taking classes. We have changed, learned and grown more spiritually mature so we are now learning at a higher level of consciousness, with deeper, clearer understanding.
The Greek philosopher Heroclitus said,
Dr. Jay Scott Neale, one of my colleagues who studied with Ernest Holmes Brother Fenwicke, would tell how Fenwicke would study the text book every morning. When Dr, Jay asked him why he did it, Fenwicke replied, "I am certain my brother comes in at night when I am not looking and writes new things."
Students who take a class for a second or third time feel the same way. The ideas that first bedazzled them now feel common, but something else always pops up. Something to learn, embrace and be.
When you are in a class, you are reading, meditating and praying everyday. And when you are consistent with your practices, then your life changes because you have changed your thinking not just at a surface level but deeply changed it.
Wherever you are, whatever has been your path up until now, I highly encourage you to take a Science of Mind Class. You will be so happy you made that decision!
In class last Tuesday night, Kathy Storey, RScP, sent a birthday banana, complete with candle! She sent it because she knows I am trying to eat less flour, so instead of a cake, she sent a banana! It made the entire class smile!

"You can't stand in the same river twice."His meaning was that the river, and the universe are forever changing so the river has changed and we have changed. Our experience might be similar but it will not be identical.

What It Does, Sunday Service
The Law is sacrosanct and unalterable, but is directed to produce perfection by the application of pure Love. In my own life Love is my guide, and I invoke that purity whenever I use the Law. Thus do I create only good, and heal any and all manifestations of misguided thinking. Life is good and very good, for it is God.

Better than Magic
"There is no hocus-pocus in a mental treatment. It is always definite, conscious, concrete and explicit." Ernest Holmes, The Science of MindIf you are like me, you appreciate a good magic show. A few months ago, some friends and I went to the Magic Castle. It was indeed a magical night of seemingly impossible tricks... a dollar bill appearing where it could not have been, a magician, knowing exactly which card you picked, etc. We were all filled with wonder. Yet all of us knew that these were tricks. It seemed to be magical, but really was sleight of hand.
When we first study and apply the Science of Mind, our results might feel miraculous! However, it is really the orderly working of the immaculate law of Mind. If we are not careful, we could miss the connection.
When we pray (treat) from an awareness of the good we seek as already being present, our good immediately becomes manifest in our world. One recent example in my life is I was praying for financial increase fro myself personally. The very next week I received a beautiful gift of a tithe from a Center in Southern California. It came out of the blue. There wasn't even a letter with it, but I could guess what the tithe represented to them. But my truth is that it was the result of definite, conscious, concrete and explicit prayer! I knew what I wanted and I received it.
James Allen wrote, We think in secret and it comes to pass.
Environment is but a looking glass."
One of the ways we can increase our receptivity to our good is to acknowledge what brought it to us. I acknowledged my prayer partner and the gift giver. I am deeply grateful for all the gifts that the Divine Presence has given me. I am grateful that It is always guiding me. I am grateful that it is not capricious but is dependable and steadfast. It is better than magic.
We call the results of prayer our demonstration. It is a demonstration of the Principle of Mind. It is normal and natural just like plugging a lamp into an electrical socket. But it always feels amazing to me! It feels amazing that the one power is at my fingertips at all times. It is amazes me and it humbles me. But why wouldn't it? We are made in the image and likeness of the Divine Presence and Its Immaculate Law. There is no hocus-pocus about it.

The Way It Works, Sunday Service
As the word of God stirs the Soul and brings everything into manifestation, so does my own word act upon the Divine and creates the perfect life for me, today and always. I am mindful of my blessings, my Divine nature, and the incarnation of Spirit in everyone. And so it is.

Our Inner Terrorist
There has been a lot about terrorists in the news this week. The events are troubling for so many reasons. First, to have freedom of speech threatened is disconcerting. (We realize how blessed we are to have the right to speak our minds, no matter what our political leanings.) We almost did it when The North Koreans leaked demeaning information and threatened to cause injury to anyone who showed the spoof about their government. Sony pictures first seemed to respond to the threats but later decided to show the picture anyway. Similarly the political satirists in Paris were killed because their views were deemed to be sacrilegious.
Then to come to understand that the terrorists have been recruited on the internet is heart-breaking! What is going on in a young person's mind, to want to die a martyr? I truly do not understand it.
But upon further reflection I thought about our own tendencies to answer the call of the inner saboteur who tells us that we are evil, wrong, flawed and bad. That is the voice that tells us that we are not good enough, that we need to "fix" the unfixable. It is the voice that causes us to hide our true feelings behind an addiction, to hide our vulnerabilities, and to live in constant fear.
When we succumb to advertising whose purpose it is to make us feel insecure with our smell, our shape, our weight, our hair, our clothes and even our shoes, we are recruiting an inner terrorist. We have done a pretty good job as a society.
There is a current popular song that sums it up. Colbie Caillat, "Try." She sings that we don't have to try so hard.
Just the way you are and just the way you are not, you are enough.

I Refuse to Malpractice!
I love classes!
I love to see people awaken to their spiritual magnificence!
I love to see the veterans of Science of Mind, re-commit to their own spiritual well-being and I love to see myself blossom with awareness.
I have been teaching Science of Mind classes for 23 years and I still learn something new about myself every class.
Ernest Holmes' brother Fenwicke would claim that his brother, dead for many years, would creep in at night and write new passages. Of course, that didn't really happen. The reason why it appears new is because, I am not the same person I was when I first started studying. It is the same principle that you can't step in the same river twice, you cannot remain at the same level of awareness that you once were.
Thank goodness for that.
I am grateful that I have not yet been able to instantaneously manifest things. I am grateful because I have not always been aware of my divinity nor of the divinity of those around me. It wasn't even safe in the corridors of my mind for some people.
Tonight I was informed that my mom is ill and was taken to hospital. That is all I know. I am using as much spiritual discipline to stay out of worry, which becomes malpractice for a minister. SoI go back to the basics and I look at the Declaration of Principles which Ernest Holmes wrote in 1927 titles, What I Believe.
It begins :
Knowing that this Cause is where I am and what I am, I choose to see God expressing. Good and Good only.
Please join me in this awareness.
